GROZNY, August 13 (RIA Novosti) - Three people were heavily injured in a mortar shell explosion in the troubled Republic of Chechnya in Russia's North Caucasus, the local police said Sunday.
The police said a resident of the Vedeno region in southeastern Chechnya had found a mortar shell in the courtyard of his house. The man tried to defuse it but the shell exploded, seriously injuring three persons.
All the injured are local residents. They have been hospitalized, the police said.
Investigation is underway, the police said.
