ROSTOV-ON-DON, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - Prosecutors in southern Russia have demanded legal action against officials who ordered the dismantling of a Lenin statue, the press service said Friday.
Economic managers of the local administration dismantled a statue of Vladimir Lenin, the leader of Russia's socialist revolution of 1917, that had stood in front of a local legislature building in Krasnodar, the regional center of Russia's Black Sea resort area.
"Investigators have established that the statue was illegally dismantled during the night of June 22," the prosecutors' press service said, adding that the move had not been coordinated with the local culture authorities.
