MOSCOW, August 10 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow's Arbitration Court will hear August 23 the legitimacy of a creditors' decision to recognize Yukos Oil Company [RTS: YUKO] bankrupt and start liquidation proceedings, a court official said Thursday.

On August 1, the Arbitration Court declared Yukos bankrupt upholding the July 25 vote by the company's creditors, including the Federal Taxation Service, state-owned oil company Rosneft, Yuganskneftegaz, formerly the main production unit of Yukos. The same day, company executives filed a motion with the arbitration court against the vote.

The court also appointed Eduard Rebgun, formerly the Yukos temporary manager, as the receiver.

The liquidation would end years of legal proceedings against Yukos, once Russia's leading independent oil producer, which faces billions of U.S. dollars in back tax claims.
