Russia's gold and foreign currency reserves up 45.8% in 7M06

MOSCOW, August 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's international reserves increased by 45.8% to $265.699 billion as of August 1 from $182.240 billion at the beginning of the year, the Central Bank of Russia said Monday.

The Central Bank said its foreign currency reserves in the same period had grown by 43.9% to $197.133 bln and gold reserves by 23.5% to $7.84 bln. The bank also reported $229 mln in IMF reserve position, and $7 mln in special drawing rights (SDRs).

Since January 1 2006, the CBR has calculated its gold reserves based on the market rate.
