U.S. sanctions against two Russian state-owned defense companies are related to competition, a deputy general director of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation said Sunday.
BRONNITSY (Moscow Region), August 6 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. sanctions against two Russian state-owned defense companies are related to competition, a deputy general director of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation said Sunday.

The U.S. State Department said Friday it had introduced sanctions against Russia's state-controlled arms selling company Rosoboronexport and top aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi over their dealings with Iran.

"First of all, the Russian Federation is strictly observing all the norms of international law in the sphere of military and technical cooperation with foreign countries," Vladimir Paleshchuk said. "Secondly, Rosoboronexport and Sukhoi are two large suppliers of Russian arms. I have no doubts this situation makes some rivals unhappy."

Both companies earlier refuted the U.S. accusations that they were supplying technologies, which Iran could use to produce mass destruction weapons.
