NAZRAN, July 28 (RIA Novosti) - Two soldiers were killed in the North Caucasus Friday when unidentified assailants opened fire on their car, local police said.

The Russian-made Volga car was traveling from Chechnya to the neighboring Republic of Ingushetia when it came under fire.

Ingush police said the assailants had been following the vehicle. "When the car tried to break away, they opened automatic gunfire," a spokesman said.

The driver lost control and the car crashed into a concrete block, killing both the driver and his passenger.
