* At the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships in Zagreb, Croatia (through August 5):

- Leonid Yekimov won the gold medal in the 25m pistol junior men's competition with 580 points, beating Thibaut Sauvage (France) on extra shots. Ivan Stoukachev took bronze with 576 points

- Russia won the gold medal in the 25m pistol junior men's team competition with 1,721 points. France took silver with 1,715 points, and Korea took bronze with 1,694 points

- Natalya Paderina won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol women's competition with 486 points. Jun Hu (China) took silver with 485.2 points. Viktoria Chaika (Belarus) finished third with 485.1 points
