FIFA president to attend U20 World Championship in Russia

MOSCOW, July 19 (RIA Novosti) - FIFA President Sepp Blatter will visit Russia to attend the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship, held from August 17 through September 3 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Russian Football Union said Wednesday.

Blatter will watch the opening game of the soccer championship, between teams from Russia and Brazil, on August 17 in St. Petersburg. On the following day he will travel to Moscow to see an encounter between Switzerland and Mexico.

The Russian team, which won the 2005 Under-19 International Women Soccer Championship in Hungary, will meet teams from Brazil, New Zealand and Australia in the group stage of the championship.
