STRELNA (near St. Petersburg), July 16 (RIA Novosti) - The leaders of the Group of Eight industrialized countries adopted Sunday a document on efforts against high level corruption.

"Today, we advance our commitment against high level large-scale public corruption," the G8 leaders said in the document. "We commit to continue to investigate and prosecute corrupt public officials and those who bribe them, including by vigorously enforcing our laws against bribery of foreign public officials to ensure that the supply side of corruption is effectively prosecuted consistent with domestic legislation."

The G8 leaders also called on presidents of international development banks to prepare a strategy for the fight against corruption by September.

Leaders of the Group of Eight - Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Canada and Italy - gathered in Russia's second city, St. Petersburg, for a three-day summit on Saturday.
