TEL AVIV, July 16 (RIA Novosti) - At least eight people have been killed and five wounded in a shooting in Haifa, Israel, as Lebanese radical Islamist group Hizbollah continued its fire against the country, Israeli emergency services said Sunday.
Earlier, Israeli media reported that nine people were killed in the shooting.
Israel launched a military operation in Lebanon after the Hizbollah movement took two Israelis hostage on Wednesday. Over 100 Lebanese civilians were killed and more than 200 wounded. Israeli aircraft also bombed the Gaza Strip.
Haifa, home to about 270,000 people, is a major Israeli sea port. Russia has a consulate general in the city.
