Tymoshenko's bloc also called on the pro-presidential Our Ukraine party to stop all talks with the coalition and join the opposition.
KIEV, July 14 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's Yulia Tymoshenko's Bloc said Friday it had officially gone into opposition in the country's parliament.

"Given that a majority comprising the factions of the Party of Regions, the Socialist and Communist Parties promoting anti-democratic and anti-state ideas which we will never support was formed in the Ukrainian Supreme Rada July 6, 2006, the faction of Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc declares that it is claiming the status of the parliamentary opposition," the bloc said in a statement.

The bloc, which is led by 45-year-old former premier Yulia Tymoshenko, said it insisted on the immediate enactment of a law on the parliamentary opposition giving it "all forms of control over the authorities."

The bloc also said it did not acknowledge legitimacy of the new coalition and urged the president to dissolve the Supreme Rada and hold new elections.

Tymoshenko's bloc also called on the pro-presidential Our Ukraine party to stop all talks with the coalition and join the opposition.

Despite the formation of a new alliance led by the Party of Regions and the nomination of leader Viktor Yanukovych for the prime minister's job Tuesday, Viktor Yushchenko can dissolve the Rada as the deadline for the formation of a new government expires July 24.
