TIRASPOL, July 10 (RIA Novosti) - A homemade explosive device was planted in a minibus that blew up in the capital of Moldova's self-proclaimed republic of Transdnestr on July 6, a senior expert of Russia's Federal Security Service said Monday.

Seven people were killed and 23 injured by the explosion in Tiraspol.

"On the basis of initial investigations of material evidence from the site of the accident, we have come to a conclusion that a homemade explosive device was used," Mikhail Savitsky said.

Savitsky, whose team joined Transdnestr security services in investigating the explosion, said a thorough investigation could be conducted in Moscow, which could take between two weeks and two months.

Transdnestr State Security Minister Vladimir Antyufeyev said Friday the explosion was not a terrorist act aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region.
