* At the 2006 Wimbledon Grand Slam series tennis tournament, which ran June 26 to July 9:

Mixed doubles:

- Russia's Vera Zvonaryova (9) and Andy Ram (9) from Israel won the tournament, defeating Venus Williams and Bob Bryan from the United States in the final, 6-3, 6-2

Girls' doubles:

- Russia's Alisa Kleibanova (2) and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (2) won the tournament, defeating Kristina Antoniychuk (1) from Ukraine and Alexandra Dulgheru from Romania in the final, 6-1, 6-2

* At the 2006 Seniors European Fencing Championship in Izmir, Turkey, which ran July 4-9:

- The Russian women's team won gold in the foil competition, defeating the Romanian team in the final, 28-27
