MOSCOW, July 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's lower house of parliament adopted 141 federal laws and three federal constitutional laws during its spring session, the State Duma speaker said Saturday.

Boris Gryzlov said that the most important legislative acts adopted this year included legislation aimed at ensuring the security of Russian citizens, society and the state and countering the growing terrorist threat, and a package of laws on military reforms in Russia.

"In that respect I would like to mention that the results of 2006 would have great importance for Russia in terms of stating and realizing its legitimate interests," Gryzlov said addressing the closing meeting of the lower house.

The speaker said that Russia had adopted a law on countering terrorism, ratified the European convention on suppression of terrorism, and introduced amendments to a number of laws regulating the fight against terrorist threat this year.

The parliament endorsed on July 7 a resolution that allows the Russian president to sanction the use of the armed forces and secret services abroad to stop terrorist activity in order to protect citizens' rights and freedoms, Russia's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

The State Duma will recess for a summer break after today's meeting and will start its fall session on September 6.
