MOSCOW, July 7 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian Foreign Ministry source Friday dismissed an article in a respected business daily claiming that sherpas for G8 planned to base the final document on the G8 summit on an International Energy Agency report.

Vedomosti published an article Friday which said an IEA spokeswoman had confirmed the information.

The Foreign Ministry source said "such statements have no bearing on reality," and expressed regret that "such an influential publication published such unchecked material."

The source said the document was being drafted by Russia and its partners in the Group of Eight leading industrialized nations. The source said the IEA had demanded that Vedomosti withdraw the report.

The leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States will meet in St. Petersburg for the G8 summit on July 15-17.
