MOSCOW, July 5 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian and Japanese foreign ministers agreed in a telephone conversation Wednesday to stay in close contact with other parties to the six-nation talks on North Korea, following the latest missile tests, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Sergei Lavrov and Taro Aso's talks followed an official announcement from North Korea that it had conducted test launches of ballistic missiles. The communist nation launched the missiles, including a long-range Taepodong-2, despite a moratorium on missile tests.

The UN Security Council is holding an emergency meeting to discuss the developments of the situation on the Korean peninsula.
