Russia's top prosecutor dismisses five deputies

MOSCOW, July 5 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's top prosecutor proposed dismissing five of his deputies and the chief military prosecutor to the upper chamber of parliament Wednesday.

Yury Chaika proposed dismissing Military Prosecutor Alexander Savenkov, First Deputy Prosecutor General Yury Biryukov, and deputy top prosecutors Vladimir Kolesnikov, Nikolai Shepel, Valentin Semanchenkov and Anatoly Bondar, a source in the Federation Council said.

He also proposed endorsing Yury Gulyagin, Ivan Sidoruk, Viktor Grin, Ivan Semchishin, Alexander Bruksman and Sergei Fridinsky as his deputies.

Chaika, a former justice minister, was endorsed by the upper chamber of parliament as the nation's top prosecutor June 23. His predecessor Vladimir Ustinov was later appointed justice minister.
