MINSK, June 23 (RIA Novosti) - Leaders of the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a coalition of former Soviet republics, decided to extend the office of Nikolai Bordyuzha as secretary general at a summit in Minsk on Friday.

The CSTO set up in October 2002 comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said, "I would like to express my gratitude to Nikolai Bordyuzha for his work, and to CSTO member states for supporting the proposal to extend his term as CSTO secretary general."

Bordyuzha, 57, has been in office since April 2003.
