BISHKEK, June 21 (RIA Novosti) - The mayor of Moscow said Wednesday that the Russian capital was prioritizing investment in housing construction and tourism in Kyrgyzstan.

"We would like to come to Kyrgyzstan with our investment," Yury Luzhkov told a news conference after talks with Kyrgyz President Felix Kulov. "We are primarily interested in housing construction."

Luzhkov said that the first joint project would be the construction of a housing development totaling 20,000 square meters in the capital of the former Soviet republic in Central Asia.

He also said Moscow could invest in the development of tourism infrastructure on 500 hectares of land on the shore of Issyk-Kul, a resort lake in northwestern Kyrgyzstan, to attract Russian and foreign tourists.

"We have every chance of doing this, because Moscow's annual budget is about $23 billion," Luzhkov said. "Our goal is to build facilities where Muscovites and Russians in general could spend their vacations in comfort."

Annual trade between Moscow and Kyrgyzstan stands at about $23 million.
