* Russia's Vera Zvonareva won the $200,000 DFS Classic WTA tennis tournament in Birmingham, U.K., defeating Jamea Jackson from the United States 7-6 (14-12), 7-6 (7-6) in the final

* Vera Zvonareva was rated 30th in the WTA Tour Race rankings announced Monday by the WTA, the governing body of women's professional tennis, a leap of 25 positions after winning the Classic WTA tennis tournament.
