MOSCOW, June 15 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday a recent donor conference on Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia was well-timed, and highlighted the role of the world's largest regional security organization in the forum.

The June 14 conference in Brussels, organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Joint Control Commission for the Georgian-South-Ossetian conflict resolution, resulted in a decision to allocate 7.9 million euros to support the recovery of the conflict zone.

"The Russian side highlights the timeliness and importance of the conference, and praises the role of the OSCE and Belgium's presidency in organizing and holding this international forum," the ministry said, adding that Russia had proposed Moscow as a venue for future meetings.

The ministry also said Russia was considering allocating 100 million rubles ($3.7 million) to help South Ossetia, and to implement a number of joint projects with the OSCE.
