ST. PETERSBURG, June 10 (RIA Novosti) - Germany's finance minister declined Saturday to comment on the European Union's intention to freeze Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's bank accounts.

Peer Steinbrueck told a news conference after a G8 finance ministers' meeting that he could not discuss international issues on which he had no information.

The EU decided to freeze the accounts of Lukashenko, who Washington has dubbed "Europe's last dictator", in May.

In April, the EU approved a ban on entry to the EU for 31 Belarusian officials. The move came after presidential elections in the country in March were declared fraudulent by international observers and opposition leaders.
