MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow prosecutors said Saturday they were investigating the murder Friday night of a Chinese citizen in the north of the city, and played down speculation the crime could be racially motivated.
The body of the Chinese man, who died at the scene of multiple stab wounds, was found next to an apartment block in northern Moscow, after police received a tip-off late Friday night that there was a fight going on by the building among a group of Asians, a spokesman said.
"During preliminary investigations ... it was established that the bodily wounds were inflicted during an argument and subsequent fight between people of Asian descent living in the apartment block," a prosecutor's spokesman said.
An criminal case has been opened into the attack.
