KIEV, May 18 (RIA Novosti, Olga Bernatskaya) - Ukraine has started dismantling three warehouses used to store nuclear weapons under a program funded by the United States, the country's defense ministry said Thursday.
The warehouses, which are being dismantled by order of Defense Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko, are located in the Volyn, Lviv, and Khmelnitsk regions, a ministry spokesman said, adding that the work is being funded by the U.S. Department of Defense.
"Dismantling work in Volyn is scheduled to be completed by December, and in the Lviv and Khmelnitsk regions by April 2007," he said.
