Spartak Moscow to take time over new coach - spokesman

MOSCOW, May 5 (RIA Novosti) - Nine-time Russian soccer champions Spartak Moscow will take time over finding a new coach in order to stabilize the team before important games, a spokesman for the club said Friday.

"All the talk about a new coach is of no benefit for the team," Vladimir Shevchenko said. "It [the team] is being trained and successfully by Vladimir Fedotov [acting coach] and [ex-player] Sergei Radionov."

Head coach Alexander Starkov resigned from his post on April 24. Last year, he took Spartak to second place in the Russian Premier League championship, thereby qualifying for the Champions League.

This season was a different story for him as after six games Spartak lay 10th in the table with only one win, four draws and one defeat.
