A radio signal picked up at the site of an airplane crash on Russia's Black Sea coast has yet to be identified, an Emergency Situations Ministry official said Thursday.

SOCHI, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - A radio signal picked up at the site of an airplane crash on Russia's Black Sea coast has yet to be identified, an Emergency Situations Ministry official said Thursday.

A team from French airplane maker Airbus is trying to recover the black boxes from the Armenian-operated plane, which crashed early Wednesday with the loss of all 113 people on board.

"It is premature to say that the signal picked up from the seabed near Sochi is from the flight recorder," Andrei Legoshin said.

Earlier, a ministry official said Airbus specialists working at the site had detected a radio signal, possibly from the plane's flight recorders.

Experts from the Toulouse-based concern are using special equipment while searching for flight data recorders from the A-320, which crashed 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) off the Russian coast.

The official said it was still unclear whether the signal came from the recorders, and added that the Airbus team was trying to locate the signal more accurately. Two emergencies ministry teams are also working at the site, using radars to try to pick up signals.

Transportation Minister Igor Levitin also said Thursday parts of the plane had been found at a depth of 680 meters (2,230 feet).
