"The Iranian people insist on their legitimate right to develop peaceful nuclear technology and will not move from this right one iota," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.

TEHRAN, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - Iran will not under any or all circumstances give up its right to pursue peaceful nuclear activities, the Iranian president said Friday.

"The Iranian people insist on their legitimate right to develop peaceful nuclear technology and will not move from this right one iota," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.

He said the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes was a "strong desire and demand of the entire Iranian nation."

With the UN Security Council set to consider the Iranian nuclear file, the hardline president accused certain world powers of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and destabilizing the situation in the world.

At the same time, he added, "Iran favors peace and well-being on earth, and contrary to claims by enemies of the Islamic Republic, it does not intend to attack and harm other states."
