MOSCOW, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - Prosecutors said Friday that one prisoner had died in a fire at a Moscow detention center in the early morning.
Previous reports suggested two prisoners had been killed.
Local prosecutor Yury Katasonov said three other men had been treated for minor injuries.
The fire at Matrosskaya Tishina - the notorious prison whose list of former inmates includes ex-Yukos boss Mikhail Khodorkovsky - was reported at 5.50 a.m. Moscow time (1.50 a.m. GMT) and extinguished within an hour.
A prison service official said earlier Friday that the fire had killed two prisoners. He said four others - one member of the prison's security staff and three firefighters - were injured, but all refused hospital treatment.
