MOSCOW, April 27 (RIA Novosti) - SUN Interbrew Limited reported Thursday an 8.1% increase in its U.S. GAAP consolidated net profit in 2005 to 54.5 million euros.

Russia's second biggest brewery in terms of sales, which markets foreign brands such as Stella Artois and Beck's, and Ukraine's market leader said its earnings had jumped 29.4% to 894.7 million euros last year.

"High sales achieved in 2005 despite growing competition and slowing market growth confirm that we have chosen a correct strategy," the company said.

Gross profit leapt 44.9% to 405.41 million euros, pre-tax profits advanced 16.9% to 70.96 million euros, and profit per share climbed 9.3% to 0.47 euros, the company said.

SUN Interbrew Limited was set up in 1999 after a merger of InBev brewery and the SUN group. In Russia, the company sells famous foreign beers such as Stella, Beck's, and Staropramen, as well as popular Russian varieties like Klinskoye, Sibirskaya Korona and Tolstyak. It also sells Stella, Beck's, Chernigovskoye, Rogan and Taller in Ukraine.
