BISHKEK, April 24 (RIA Novosti) - The daughter of former Kyrgyz president Askar Akayev, detained in the Central Asian republic Monday, will be released after giving evidence, a senior security official said.

"[Bermet Akayeva] was brought in for witness testimony," said Elmurza Satybaldiyev, deputy head of Kyrgyzstan's National Security Service.

"Bermet Akayeva has agreed to give testimony. She is being questioned at the moment," he said, without specifying in which case Akayeva was giving evidence.

Satybaldiyev said Akayeva could not be detained for longer than three hours by law.

Akayeva was detained Monday as she tried to enter the country from neighboring Kazakhstan.

She was reportedly traveling to Kyrgyzstan for a presentation of her book about last year's "tulip revolution," which led to the ouster of her father, accused of corruption and authoritarianism. Bermet was due to give a news conference Tuesday.
