BISHKEK, April 24 (RIA Novosti) - Kyrgyzstan's security service said Monday it had detained ex-President Askar Akayev's daughter as she tried to enter the country from neighboring Kazakhstan.

"The Prosecutor General's Office on April 19 gave an order to bring in Bermet Akayeva for witness [testimony]," the service said, without specifying in which case Akayeva was wanted for questioning.

Bermet has been taken to Bishkek and is currently at the security service's headquarters with a family lawyer, Maxim Maximovich, security officials said.

Bermet Akayeva was reportedly traveling to Kyrgyzstan for a presentation of her book about last year's "tulip revolution," which led to the ouster of her father, accused of corruption and authoritarianism. Bermet was due to give a news conference Tuesday.
