* Lyudmila Petrova took the silver at the Flora London Marathon 2006 in a time of 2h21m29s. Deena Kastor broke her own U.S. record to win the gold (2h19m36s), and Susan Chepkemei of Kenya finished third (2h21m46s)

* Russia beat Sweden 5:2 to take fifth place at the 2005/2006 men's under-18 world ice hockey championships in Sweden. The U.S. retained its title by defeating Finland 3:1 in the finals. The Czech Republic beat Canada in the bronze-medal match, 4:1

* Russia's women's tennis team lost 2-3 to Belgium in the five-rubber ITF Federation Cup quarterfinal tie in Liege.
