MOSCOW, April 13 (RIA Novosti) - Leading Russian regional bank Uralsib Bank posted net profits of 7.56 billion rubles ($273 mln) in the first quarter of 2006, 72.3% of the figure for the whole of 2005, the bank said Thursday.
Net profit was boosted by "operations with securities, corporate and private credit, foreign currency operations, and other currency valuables," a bank statement said.
Uralsib Bank is on the Central Bank's list of Russia's top thirty banks in terms of assets. As of October 1, 2005, the bank had assets of 222 billion rubles (about $7.7 billion) and its shareholder equity was 20.4 billion rubles (about $713 million).
