ROSTOV-ON-DON, April 10 (RIA Novosti) - A court in southern Russia has sentenced a man charged with kidnapping and killing a boy to 22.6 years in jail, prosecutors said Monday.
Vasily Brykov, 49, was found guilty on charges of kidnapping, extortion, and murder by a court in the southern Russian city of Taganrog, on the Azov Sea, and will serve his sentence in a maximum-security jail.
The 12-year-old boy was kidnapped on his way to school in December 2005. Brykov, who lives next door to the boy's family, phoned his parents and demanded $100,000 in ransom.
When arrested, Brykov admitted his guilt and showed where he had buried the boy's body.
