BERLIN, March 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's foreign minister joined his counterparts in Berlin Thursday for a meeting to discuss ways to break the ongoing impasse around Iran's nuclear program.

Sergei Lavrov said ahead of the meeting, attended by the foreign ministers of Germany, the United States, France, Britain and China, that only a diplomatic solution would help Iran to develop nuclear energy only for peaceful purposes.

The UN Security Council Wednesday urged Iran to re-impose a moratorium on uranium enrichment and allow international inspections of its nuclear facilities, in a bid to push a diplomatic solution and ensure that Iran pursues nuclear technology for civilian purposes only.

The 15-member Security Council also said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN's nuclear watchdog, should report on Tehran's compliance with its international nuclear non-proliferation commitments within 30 days.
