TBLISI, March 29 (RIA Novosti) - Georgia's economy grew 9.3% in 2005, the country's prime minister has said.

Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli, speaking at a meeting of the Austrian-Georgian business council in Vienna on Tuesday, said: "Georgia has achieved major successes in the economy. A liberal tax system has been established, which is having a positive effect on the investment climate."

At the session, Austrian businessmen expressed an interest in investing in the former Soviet republic's energy sector, and taking part in transport, communications, and banking projects, the premier's office said.

During 2005, trade between the two countries totaled $20 million, of which $19 million was Austrian exports to Georgia.
