MOSCOW, March 25 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian film crew was detained in Kenya 200km from the country's capital, and Russian diplomats are conducting talks to release the Russians, an aide to the Russian ambassador in Nairobi said Saturday.
"Four Russian nationals were detained," Viktor Voronin said. "We are holding talks with the police department on the release of our nationals."
Police reportedly questioned the crew's license for filming, he said, adding that such a license could cost $32,000.
"Local policemen refuse to let our citizens go, saying they will do it only after a court ruling, which will happen not earlier than Monday," Voronin said. He said the embassy was doing everything possible for the unpleasant situation to be settled as soon as possible.
