MOSCOW, March 19 (RIA Novosti) - Construction works on the ground may be to blame for the partial collapse of a tunnel in Moscow's subway and the subsequent fire on a train carriage Sunday, a law-enforcement official said.
"According to preliminary information, the tunnel on the Moscow underground's Zamoskvoretskaya line collapsed owing to construction works outside," the source said. "The information is now being checked up on." He also said no one had been injured in the accident and evacuation was currently underway.
Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Viktor Beltsov said the train fire had been triggered by a beam falling from the tunnel on the track.
