The Sochi 2014 Bid Committee, led by committee chairman Dmitry Chernyshenko, will take part in the opening ceremony of the IX Paralympic Winter Games in Turin, and meet with members of the International Paralympic Committee.

"The holding of the Paralympic Games in Sochi in 2014 will leave a priceless legacy in sports and general infrastructure, which will become a significant contribution to raising the everyday quality of life of limited-ability Russians," Chernyshenko said.

Six other European and Asian cities are bidding for the XXII Olympic Winter Games: Almaty, Kazakhstan; Borjomi, Georgia; Jaca, Spain; Pyeong Chang, South Korea; Salzburg, Austria; and Sofia, Bulgaria.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is set to name the winning bid in July 2007 in Guatemala City.
