ROSTOV-ON-DON, March 7 (RIA Novosti, Sergei Rudkovsky) - More than 35,000 people are still without electricity three days after a storm in the southern Russian region of Kalmykia, the local emergencies ministry said Tuesday.

"In total 103 electricity lines and 688 sub-stations are out of action across the republic," an Emergency Situations Ministry press officer said, adding that supplies should be restored by March 9.

The official said that a storm March 4 had knocked out power lines in seven districts in Kalmykia, and also damaged gas pipelines and torn roofing off homes and local administration buildings.
