MOSCOW, March 6 (RIA Novosti) - Sibir Airlines, one of Russia's leading air carriers, increased the number of its passengers by 21% year-on-year in January-February to 565,000, the company's director general said Monday.

Vladislav Filev said, "The lion's share [of the increase] still belongs to flights to the United States and Europe."

Filev added that the share of Russian-made jets in the company fleet was continuing to decrease. He said Sibir would be using 20 foreign jets this summer with 11 of them Boeings and nine Airbuses.

He added that in 2005 the company had carried 4.2 million passengers, a 12%-increase on the previous year.
