KEMEROVO, February 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government will address the long-term development of the country's energy sector at a session in June 2006, a Russian deputy industry and energy minister said Saturday.

Andrei Dementyev, speaking at a conference in a Siberian coal mining district on the restructuring of the coal industry, said: "A Cabinet session on the subject [the development of the country's energy sector until 2020] has already been scheduled for June."

"Some of the answers will be provided in summer 2006, when we present a report on the development of the energy sector until 2020," he said.

The conference in the Kemerovo Region in western Siberia was also attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov.

Earlier, Fradkov had highlighted the need to boost the profitability of the coal industry.

"Better incentives need to be provided for the sector to perform more effectively," he said.
