MOSCOW, February 16 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian economic development and trade minister said Thursday that the federal customs service must considerably reduce the inflow of undeclared and uncertified goods, or "gray" imports, by the end of 2006.
"The size of the gray market should be reduced at least down to 15% by the end of this year," German Gref said.
He said gray imports of electronic goods and mobile phones accounted for 85% of the total figure, 60% for clothes, and 50% for furniture.
The minister also said the customs service should prepare "a comprehensible system of customs value administration," including measures to ensure authentic customs declaration, within two weeks.
