IOC panel set to decide on Russian biathlete's fate

ROME, February 16 (RIA Novosti, Olga Grinkrug) - A senior Russian sports official said a decision on Russian biathlete Olga Pyleva, who won the Olympic silver three days ago but has since tested positive for doping, would be made later Thursday.

"A decision has yet to be made by the [IOC] Disciplinary Commission, which will convene in the second half of the day. No measures will be taken before that," said Vladimir Vasin, the vice-president of Russian Olympic Committee and the head of the Russian sports delegation to the Winter Olympics in Turin.

If found guilty, Pyleva could be stripped of her medal, which means the silver would go to Germany's Martina Glagow, and her teammate Albina Akhatova would be awarded the bronze.
