MOSCOW, February 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's top nuclear power official said Wednesday he would discuss all areas of bilateral cooperation with Iran during his visit to the country scheduled for February 24 through 26.

Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Power, said: "I am planning to visit Iran from February 24 until 26 for a session of an intergovernmental Russian-Iranian commission that will discuss cooperation not only in the nuclear sphere, but also the entire range of cooperation issues between Russia and Iran."

He said he would also visit the Bushehr nuclear power plant, which is being built by Russian specialists.

Russia has consistently supported Iran's plans to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and in addition to its work on the Bushehr plant, it has offered to enrich Iranian uranium on its own territory to alleviate Western nations' concerns that the Islamic Republic may be pursuing a secret weapons program. Tehran has said it may accept the offer, but only if Russia provides guarantees that all enriched fuel will be returned.

Kiriyenko said a draft document on an international uranium enrichment center would be high on the agenda during talks.

"Our plan is to put forward proposals to Iran on peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and show the world that this is possible, with a strict nonproliferation regime in force," he said.
