KIEV, January 26 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine supports a Russian proposal to conduct a joint inventory of the Black Sea Fleet's facilities in the Crimea, a senior official said Thursday.

Against the backdrop of a dispute over a lighthouse and other facilities on the Ukrainian peninsula, Anatoliy Kinakh, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, said after a meeting with his Russian counterpart Igor Ivanov that Ukraine had already set up a working party to consider the matter.

"This issue will be further discussed in the negotiation process to ensure access to the facilities during the inventory in strict compliance with the contractual obligations and the legislation of both countries," Kinakh said.

According to Kinakh, he told Ivanov that the National Security and Defense Council would hold a special sitting in early February to discuss the Black Sea Fleet issue to pave the way for a meeting of the relevant sub-commission with the participation of the Russian side.

Kinakh also said both countries were willing to ensure the strict observance of their obligations in compliance with the treaties on the Black Sea Fleet's stationing in Ukraine.
