VLADIKAVKAZ, January 23 (RIA Novosti) - A gas pipeline between southern Russia and Georgia that was partially destroyed in an explosion Sunday will be repaired by Tuesday morning, an emergencies official in the Russian republic of North Ossetia said Monday.

Vladimir Ivanov, spokesman for the North Ossetian emergency situations ministry, said repairs to the Mozdok-Tbilisi pipeline - hit by a blast that authorities suspect was an act of terrorism - would continue through the night so that disrupted gas supplies to Georgia could resume Tuesday.

Earlier on Monday, the president's envoy to the region, Dmitry Kozak, had said the repairs to the damaged pipelines would be completed during the day.
