MOSCOW, January 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russia wants to boost the economic activities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Russian deputy foreign minister said Saturday.
"Russia supports boosting OSCE economic efforts and the full-scale and balanced implementation of the Economic Strategy," Alexander Yakovenko said, commenting on the 14th session of the OSCE Economic Forum in Vienna January 23-24.
He said the organization's economic subcommittee should be able to promptly respond to socio-economic and ecological problems and propose practical and original ideas.
Yakovenko is also seeking to boost the analytical responsibilities of the Office of the OSCE Coordinator for Economic and Environmental Activities in order to help OSCE bodies and institutions tackle economic, social and ecological security issues and prevent conflicts.
