Below is a summary of the main energy-related events in Russia, the CIS and neighboring countries on January 12, 2006

* Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russian natural gas would be sold to all countries at market prices, and made specific mention of Belarus

* Ordinary shares in Russian energy giant Gazprom will begin trading on Moscow's main RTS stock market January 13 after the "ring fence" that had prevented foreigners from owning ordinary shares in the company was removed, the RTS' press service said

* Russia's Federal Atomic Energy Agency said the country intended to restore the nuclear power industry network that had existed during the Soviet period, and was initiating talks with Ukraine and Kazakhstan on the subject

* Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev that Russia was interested in broader energy cooperation with Kazakhstan, including in the fields of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and oil production

* Kazakh Prime Minister Danial Akhmetov said the government of Kazakhstan fully supported state-owned company KazMunaiGaz's intention to buy a stake in the Lithuanian oil complex Mazeikiu Nafta

* Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev said Moldova hoped to agree the price it pays for natural gas from Gazprom by the end of January

* Gazprom and integrated oil and gas firm PetroCanada confirmed their interest in long-term cooperation and discussed joint projects that are likely to focus on shipping Russian liquefied natural gas to North American markets
