Below is a summary of the main energy-related events in Russia, the CIS and neighboring countries on January 11, 2006

* Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to meet their countries' commitments under the new gas deal agreed earlier this month

* A senior Iranian official said the Islamic Republic would continue to exercise its right to develop and use nuclear technology for civilian purposes despite international criticism of its efforts in the sphere

* Russia's no.1 independent crude producer, LUKoil, said it intended to expand its operations in oil-rich Kazakhstan

* Russian Railways said Russia increased rail deliveries of its oil to China by more than 30% in 2005, to more than 7.6 million metric tons (150,000 bbl/d)

* The Russian-Armenian joint venture, ArmRosgazprom, said Russia increased its supplies of natural gas to Armenia by 26.5% year-on-year to reach 1.685 billion cubic meters

* ABN AMRO international investment bank confirmed it would be one of the lead arrangers of a loan to Russian oil producer TNK-BP.
